Farewell (first layer)

Sometimes a physical goodbye doesn't mean you are actually apart at all. The light between these two people is the love they carry with them wherever life may take them from now on. It is this love, this light, that is the only thing that really exists. The separation is only an illusion. They look sad, because of the discrepancy between the experience of separation by the body and the experience of oneness in their minds.

I made this painting for everybody who saves someone else, even if it's in a small way: mothers, partners, children, teachers, soldiers, neighbours, housekeepers, environmental activists, mountain rescuers, etc.
